About Us

Solomon said that ‘of making books there is no end’, and the beloved apostle John said that ‘there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.’

We live in an age when the number of Christian books being published seems to be growing every year, and we should be thankful for it. There are many good publishers producing books with broad appeal but we believe that there is still space for books which distinctly speak to those who feel their utter dependence on a sovereign God for life and liberty and every blessing.

Here at West Wells Books we seek to publish material from the past and present which is distinctly Calvinistic, declaring the free and sovereign grace of God through Christ to undeserving sinners. Books that promote Christ first, and abase Man.

Our Story

Between us, we have over 50 years experience of producing materials for a variety of publishers, covering a broad range including children’s books, doctrinal treaties, collections of works, sermons and historic tracts. We bring this experience into our current productions. We have also supported other publishers with reprinting old titles.

The name West Wells Books is taken from West Wells Road in Ossett because of historic and current connections with it, and also because it indicates something of our view of Christian literature here and now; the Gospel has gone unto the ends of the world including this corner of the ‘West‘; and the Word of life which Christ gives, which we seek to proclaim through these publications, is of course said to be ‘a well of water springing up into everlasting life.’
